The aim of this course is to develop an understanding of the theoretical basis of animal husbandry in a range of animal species.

The learning outcomes are:

1.       Demonstrate the principles of safe working practices as they relate to the use of animals in a range of animal industries.

2.       Explain and apply the scientific and practical principles of animal health care.

3.       Analyse the appropriate living environments for a selection of animals as they relate to the principles of animal health and welfare science.

4.       Explain the principles of the scientific and practical provision of dietary requirements of a selection of animal species.

5.       Describe the basic principles and management of reproduction in selected domestic animals.
