Course Aims:
To develop oral communicative skills moving from IELTS 5.0 or equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or equivalent. To develop students' capabilities to understand and respond to a range of spoken texts in familiar and less familiar genres. To enhance students' ability to analyse and improve pronunciation.
Text-based skills 1 is a Level 1 Diploma in English (Advanced) course. It aims to develop reading and writing skills, moving from IELTS 5.0 or equivalent to IELTS Level 5.5. To develop students’ ability to respond to a range of written texts and produce accurate written texts at sentence, paragraph and essay level. To enhance students’ acquisition, retention and use of vocabulary and structures associated with common texts and contexts including academic contexts.
Aim:To increase the English proficiency level of EAL job seekers and their understanding of the demands of the New Zealand workplace and the job market, including enhancing their understanding of and skills in employment-related computing.
